Considerably closer are the attractive villages of Chipping Campden (10 miles), famed for its unspoiled architectural features and fine old church. Broadway (10 miles), with its long broad main street and village green lined with honey-coloured stone cottages. Burford (10 miles), oneof the most unspoiled of the Cotswold towns with the houses scattered down the side of a steep hill and the river Windrush at the foot, crossed by an ancient bridge. Bibury (14 miles), famous for its trout farm, the Folk Museum in the old mill, the river Coln, and Arlington Row - the terrace ofworkers cottages from the past now owned and restored by the National Trust. The Roman Villa at Chedworth with its 'central heating system' almost intact, to say nothing of the glorious surroundings in which the villa and museum are located. These are just a few of the many attractions in the area - we can tell you about many more when you are here.
There are Golf Courses at Burford, Chipping Norton, Broadway and a new course 3 miles away at Naunton. |
